Buy it if you need 24GB of VRAM for rendering, local AI work or 4K gaming and the newer generation does not offer better value. Measure first: cards of this class are physically enormous and demand a power supply and connector arrangement that a lot of existing builds do not have.

Will an RTX 4090 fit in my case?

Check before you order. Cards in this class are among the largest consumer graphics cards ever made, in length, height and slot thickness. Measure the clearance from the rear of the case to the front-mounted drives or radiator, and check the manufacturer's stated card dimensions rather than assuming a mid-tower will take it.

What power supply do I need?

A substantial one, with the correct connector arrangement for the card. Check the card's stated power requirement against your supply's wattage and connectors, use the supplied adapter or a native cable, and make sure the connector is fully seated. Improperly seated power connectors on this class of card are a documented cause of damage.

Is 24GB of VRAM useful for gaming?

Rarely the limiting factor at present, even at 4K. Where 24GB genuinely matters is rendering, high-resolution video work and running local AI models, all of which run out of VRAM long before they run out of compute. If you only game, a card with less memory is usually the better value.

Should I buy a previous generation flagship?

Only if the price works out. A superseded flagship is still a fast card, and paying near-launch pricing for it when a current generation card offers similar performance or more VRAM for less is a bad trade. Check the current lineup and its VRAM configurations before committing.

Do I need a support bracket?

Yes. A card of this weight sags in a horizontally mounted slot, and sustained sag stresses both the PCIe connector and the card's own PCB. Most cards in this class ship with a bracket or one is inexpensive, and using it is not optional over a multi-year life.
